Ashby Underwriting sponsored Andrea Atzeni had a good start to May with a winner at Boodles May Festival at Chester on May 6th with Roger Varien trained El Drama winning by a length in the Dee Stakes (Listed) (Class 1) over 1 mile and 2½ furlongs
Andrea followed up his win at Chester with a double at York starting on the Thursday with promising performance from two-year-old Mehmas colt Lusail who kept on well during the final furlong for his first run to win the Class 2 Maiden Stakes over 6 furlongs. The second winner at York for Andrea was Primo Bacio, in the Class 1 Listed Race; Oaks Farm Stables Fillies’ Stakes (Registered As The Michael Seely Memorial) over 1 mile.
Andrea topped off the week with a winner at Newbury on May 15th for Roger Varien and the Benedict Allen Highclere syndicate. The four-year-old Dark Angel gelding, Ascension led for the final furlong finishing in front of 5/2 favourite Path Of Thunder.
